Good Riddance to Bad Rubbish

As liberating as clearing his closet may be, letting the neighbors rummage through your memories might prove a tad too painful. Consider these suggestions for getting him, and his ghosts, out of the house once and for all (sans public humiliation).

Cyber Dumping
If you’d rather stay incognito, sell his stuff online at eBay, Amazon, Craigslist or other online outlets. These sites let you reach a large market for little or no cost. The downside? Selling online can take a while. Plus you need to ship the items to your buyers – not practical when unloading a king-size bed.  

Sweet Charity
Cash feels good, but why not spread some goodwill by donating? You’ll help a worthy cause and might be able to write off your contributions on your taxes. Some organizations, such as St. Vincent de Paul thrift stores will even pick up items from your home, making the whole process effortless.
