Good From Bad

Three fates await your wedding dress: Keep it for the nostalgic dust magnet that it is (consuming perfectly good closet space, no less), burn it in soul-cleansing fashion, or, like the generous soul you are, put the garment to good use.

Consider these three options:

Making Memories Foundation
In connection with Brides Against Breast Cancer, Making Memories Foundation provides wedding dresses, veils, and slips at discounted rates for terminally ill women diagnosed with breast cancer. They take items from the year 2000 or later.

The I Do Foundation
The I Do Foundation resells your wedding dress and donates 20 percent of the profits to a charity of your choice in one of six categories: children, youth and families; environment; education; health; social justice; or community development.

Heavenly Angels in Need
Heavenly Angels in Need uses material from wedding dresses and formal gowns to make burial garments and memorial items for babies and children. By donating your dress, you will relieve some of the financial burden of a grieving family.
